Janothan- A special SGSY Project
Janotthan is a special Suvarna Gram Swarna Jayanthi Yojana project to promote and ensure participatory management of natural resources for poverty alleviation and sustainable development in Kalaghatgi & Hubli taluks of Dharwad district in Karnataka.

Programme Coverage and Outlay
The proposed Project will be implemented through Two multi-disciplinary clusters, consisting of 14 villages in Kalaghatgi Taluk and 5 villages in Hubli Taluk. The overall cluster level co-ordination will be taken care from divisional office situated at Dharwad under supervision and control from central office at Tiptur.
The project is proposed to cover 1600 families in 17 villages with an investment of Rs 38270271/= from Government & Rs 1960200/= farmers’ contribution over a period of 5 years.
Activities such as Agri Horti forestry dry land sericulture, livestock, Income generating activities etc, are designed to support sustainable management of local resources for poverty alleviation. Promotion of Agri Horti forestry, dry land sericulture are some of the main interventions planned during the first three years of the project. In general, the first year of the project would be spent in social mobilization, institution building of community, identifying peoples interest etc. formation of people’s organization, who would be responsible for implementing the field level activities, will be trust area in first year. The cattle breeding activity will start from 1st year and will continue till end of the project. It is assumed that the associated livestock and income generating activities would be continued for next two years.
